DCWV Home Vinyl Lettering
Posted on January 19th, 2010 21 commentsA popular home decor item, DCWV (die cuts with a view) vinyl lettering is a fine product known under a brand name. This is offered up in retail stores. One limitation you will find with this product is the lack of customization. They are pre made quotes ready to hang up on your wall. The material is the same or similar to products we sell already. In fact if you browse our wall lettering section of our website you will see that you can do much the same thing already with our on site tools. Our wall lettering product is Oracal 631 Wall Vinyl which we have had great success in providing to customers. You can apply it to a wall easily, remove it in under 2 years without residue. The vinyl is also a matte finish so you don’t have to worry about glare inside of a room. Save $$ over DCWV pre made quotes by checking our or wall vinyl section today!

We purchased one of your removable vinyl lettering products & one letter is not spaced correctly. Your instuctions state it can be removed with a hair dryer. My question is “can it be repositioned & still adhere to the wall. It was only installed last week. Is there any ‘tricks’ we should follow?? Many thanks, love the effect it has on the the wall. PS: The wall is painted sheetrock.

I purchased one of the sayings at Shopko, and it is HORRIBLE! It is the “Life (gold) is not measured by the number of breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away (gold)” the words that are gold, stuck to the paper, and now I have crappy looking wall lettering in my BRAND NEW BATHROOM! it is so sticky that I cant even rub my hand over it or get any of it off! I find it very sad that the company doesnt even put their customer service number on the package! I think that it was an old package also, because you could see on the gold letters paper quite a bit of the color was on the paper and off the letters! and the letters in brown that werent metallic came off fine! if anyone can give me the companys number of has suggestions on how to fix this please let me know! I guess from now on I will spend a little extra and get it from a different company!

Like Bethany, The gold letters from DCWV Home Removable Vinyl Lettering are a mess. The black words were great but both of the gold words have the transfer paper stuck all over them. Any suggestions?

I purchased a saying at Kohls and it is terrible. The paper will not come off the gold words, guests and friends, and it looks terrible. We tried everything to get it to work and nothing helped. Of course there is no customer service number for me to call and the store will not help. What a waste of money!

I seem to have had the same problem as Bethany with the same phase! I managed to get mine on the wall after slowly picking the letters with my finger nail to get them started. It looks great however the gold lettering is terrible sticky! I’m afraid that dust will just collect on it. Is there anything that I can wipe the letters with to take away the sticky residue that won’t harm the letters or the wall?

I have wrote customer service about the terrible lettering I purchased. “Life is not measured by the number of breaths……” The letters stuck to the backing no matter how much I rubbed, then you couldn’t get the backing off, it was sticky and pulled the letters. Oh my gosh, I hope DCWV backs their products, no number to call so I e-mail1314ed. I will let you know how it turns out, but for now, I would shy away from buying their product.

I have the same issue with my “ALWAYS kiss me goodnight” package that Bethany had. The gold lettering seems to be stuck to the paper, so the paper doesn’t peel off nicely and removes portions of the gold coloring (which remains on the paper). Now I have a bunch of sticky letters with pieces of remaining paper on my wall. I tried to go to the company’s website as listed on the package, but the website is “doing a little remodeling” and doesn’t state when they will return. Please help!

When you place the vinyl lettering on your wall,
can you remove it and put it back on again whenever you paint your walls? OR should I wait to put it up until I decide to paint walls whenever that is?Also, is there a shelf life for the letterings – I think I purchased this over 2 years ago.
Thanks,
Christine -

I purchased a DCWV Home Removal Vinyl Wall Quote and had the same issue as Bethany. The gold lettering is on the wall fine, but the adhesive from the page it was stuck to is still on the letters. How can I safely remove the adhesive and small paper pieces without harming the lettering and gold?
Thanks in advance for the help! -

I am in the process of applying their “Always kiss me goodnight” quote. What a fiasco. It’s taken me a full hour to apply the first word. The letters (as several others commented) stuck to the paper. I too tried to go to their website which is still being remodeled.
My recommendation would be to go with wallwords.com. I applied their quote “Life does not consist of the number of breaths you take…” in thirty minutes and it lasted until I sold the home five years later. It was easy to apply, looked amazing, and their customer service is the best.
I’m actually considering what else I could do with just the word “always” on the wall since it would take me another 4+ hours to get the rest up at this rate.
VERY disappointed and would not purchase from them again. -
same problem with the gold letters, bought at Kohls also. Won’t come off the transfer paper at all. How stupid. The can says made in China with no contact info. I plan to get my money back from Kohls and see if I can order the design I want from another vinyl company. I’ve had only good experiences with another company’s vinyl.

I also bought the dcwv lettering and the gold letters stuck to the paper. I called and email1314ed them from their website . They were professional and very apologetic. They said there is a problem with the gold lettering when it gets old. They are sending me a new quote of my choice, since the one I purchased was from last years catalog and they are overnighting it and double-checking it before they ship to ensure the lettering is good. Overall, not too happy that they keep old product on the shelf knowing that it goes bad, but pleased that they are correcting their product. Just contact them, they will make it right.

I need to know how to get a hold of customer service. I bought 4 of your vinyl sayings and 2 of them wouldn’t even stick. don’t have my receipt for the one and the other that i have receipt for i don’t have the box because it stuck for 2 days. now is coming loose. Please email1314 me a phone number so that I can call and get them replaced with new ones. maybe they were in store to long and lost there adhesive. thank you i just know that paying $30 each for them they should stick i either want my money back or new ones

I purchased the DCWV Home decal for my daughter’s room and the first line won’t even remove from the protective top cover and the bottom line letters weren’t even manufactured as letters and you can’t even read what it says!!!!! I would NEVER recommend this product to anyone! what a complete waste of money and time.

I recently applied ‘Enjoy!’ above my kitchen doorway. It really is nice and adds a special touch to the kitchen. I didn’t have any problems putting it up. I decided to try a small saying first and it was so easy. Next I will buy the Bon Appetit’ which is larger.
